Alezio DOC
A small Negroamaro appellation on the Ionian side of Salento, historically the home of Salento's rosato tradition (Rosa del Golfo started here). The rosso is medium bodied with black cherry, dried plum, bay leaf and a bitter almond finish typical of Negroamaro, and the rosato is coral colored, savory and dry with cherry skin and orange peel. The wines are honest and moderately priced, with tannins that are dusty rather than hard.
