Ansonica Costa dell'Argentario DOC
A varietal white from Ansonica, the same grape as Sicily's Inzolia, grown on the granite of the Argentario headland and the terraced island of Giglio. The wines are golden, low in acid and high in texture: ripe pear, dried apricot, sage, sea salt, and a bitter almond finish, often with a touch of skin contact. It's a heroic-viticulture story more than a fine-wine one, and only a few thousand cases exist.
