Bagnoli Friularo DOCG
Friularo is the local name for Raboso Piave, a late ripening grape with ferocious acidity and tannin, and this DOCG is built on it. The wines are deep purple, with sour plum, blackberry, violet and a tarry, iron edge; the vendemmia tardiva version, picked after the Feast of St Martin in November, softens the edges a little. The passito is the most approachable. This is a rustic, old-fashioned grape and needs food with fat in it.
