Barbaresco DOCG
Nebbiolo from slightly lower, warmer hills than Barolo, on the same marine marls, so it ripens earlier and drinks a bit sooner while giving up little in depth. Sour cherry, raspberry, dried rose, licorice and tar on the nose, with fine but insistent tannin and high acidity. Gaja put it on the world map; Produttori del Barbaresco makes it the best-value great Nebbiolo in Italy. Expect a decade or more of development from a good vintage.
