Campidano di Terralba (Terralba) DOC
A red only DOC built on Bovale, the Sardinian branch of Spain's Bobal and Graciano family. The wines are deeply colored, medium bodied, with blackberry, black pepper, dried herbs and a rustic, slightly grainy tannin; acidity stays fresh even in this hot plain. Most is drunk locally and it's rarely seen outside the island, though Bovale is one of Sardinia's more interesting reds when a serious producer handles it.
