Casavecchia di Pontelatone DOC

A DOC created for a single rescued grape, Casavecchia, found as a lone old vine near a ruined house (the casa vecchia) and propagated in the 1990s. The wine is deeply colored and savory: blackberry, black plum, wild herbs, black pepper, graphite and a leathery, earthy note with medium-plus tannin and fresh acidity. Riserva versions from Terre del Principe and Vestini Campagnano show how serious it can be. It's the Caserta area's most interesting red and it tastes like nothing else in Campania.

Still hunting

I'm still looking for a bottle of this.

If you make Casavecchia di Pontelatone, import it, or know who does, the form takes two minutes and I reply to every one.

Can you help me get one?
