Cesanese di Affile (Affile) DOC
The smallest of the three Cesanese appellations, from a mountain village at 550 to 900 meters where the small berried Cesanese di Affile clone is native. The altitude gives a more aromatic, tighter red than Piglio: sour cherry, cranberry, pink pepper, wild herbs and a firm acid line, with fine but noticeable tannin. Only a handful of growers bottle it and the total is a few hundred hectoliters.
