Copertino DOC

One of the old guard Salento Negroamaro appellations, historically defined by the Copertino cooperative's riserva, which was a fixture of US Italian restaurant lists in the 1990s at under ten dollars. The wine is dry, medium bodied and savory, with dried cherry, prune, tobacco, tar and the characteristic bitter finish of Negroamaro, and riservas gain leather and dried herb with age. Less fruit forward than Salice Salentino from the big houses, more traditional in feel.

Still hunting

I'm still looking for a bottle of this.

If you make Copertino, import it, or know who does, the form takes two minutes and I reply to every one.

Can you help me get one?
