Cortese dell'Alto Monferrato DOC

Cortese from the hills just north of Gavi, sold at a lower price and usually made in a simpler, fresher style. Expect pale straw color, green apple, lime, white flowers and a faint almond note on a light, crisp, low-alcohol frame. It's the aperitivo and fish-course white of the Acqui area. Rarely profound, but a good one is clean, tangy and honest.
