Dogliani DOCG
Dolcetto taken seriously: the grape's home town, where it is the main crop rather than a cash-flow wine behind Nebbiolo. Deep purple, violet and blackberry on the nose, black plum and bitter almond on the palate, moderate acid and soft but noticeable tannin. Superiore versions from old vines can be dense and age five to eight years. Pecchenino, Chionetti, San Fereolo and Marziano Abbona are the names.
