Emilia-Romagna DOC
A new region-wide DOC, approved in the mid-2020s, that lets producers across Emilia and Romagna use the regional name on a broad range of still and sparkling wines, in the same way Friuli and Sicilia have umbrella DOCs. It largely upgrades what was previously sold as Emilia IGT: fizzy Lambrusco blends, Pignoletto and simple varietal whites and reds. Expect fresh, easy, fruit-driven wines at supermarket prices. Labels carrying it are only starting to appear.
