Falanghina del Sannio DOC
The mainstream Falanghina appellation, covering most of the grape's plantings in Campania. The wine is a mid-weight, unoaked white with green apple, pear, white peach, citrus blossom and a faint bitter-almond note, moderate acidity and a clean, slightly saline finish. It's the house white of every trattoria in Naples and Benevento and at its best it has a sharpness that suits fried seafood. Drink within two or three years; the passito versions are a pleasant, honeyed curiosity.
