Frascati Superiore DOCG
The upper tier of Frascati, with lower yields and a minimum 12% alcohol, split off as a DOCG in 2011. Good examples show what Malvasia del Lazio can do: yellow apple, pear, orange blossom, almond and a faint bitter finish, with more weight and texture than basic Frascati and some can age three to five years. Fontana Candida's Luna Mater and Villa Simone's single vineyards are the wines to look for.
