Galluccio DOC
A small volcanic DOC in the far north of Campania that is essentially the domain of one family estate, Telaro (Lavoro e Salute). Falanghina from the tuff soils is lean, herbal and mineral with lemon, green apple and a chalky finish; the Aglianico is mid-weight with black cherry, wild herbs, smoke and a rustic but fresh tannin. The Riserva reds get some oak and take on tobacco and dried fruit. A good place to taste Aglianico and Falanghina from volcanic soil at a lower price than Irpinia.
