Langhe DOC
The flexible regional DOC that lets Barolo and Barbaresco producers bottle declassified nebbiolo, experimental blends, and whites. Langhe Nebbiolo is the important one: often young-vine or declassified Barolo fruit, released early, with cherry, rose, tar and softer tannin than the DOCGs, a genuine bargain in good years. Langhe Rosso covers everything from Barbera-Nebbiolo blends to Gaja's famous Cabernet and Nebbiolo cuvées, and Langhe Chardonnay and Nascetta are the top whites of the area. Quality tracks the producer.
