Malvasia di Casorzo d'Asti (Casorzo) DOC
A sweet, low-alcohol, gently fizzy red from an aromatic red malvasia that grows almost nowhere else. Ruby to deep pink, smelling of rose, strawberry, raspberry and a hint of nutmeg, sweet but light, around 5 to 6 percent alcohol, with a soft frothy texture and a clean finish. It's the local dessert wine for hazelnut cake and pastries, the Monferrato cousin of Brachetto d'Acqui. A passito version exists but is rare.
