Montecompatri-Colonna DOC
A small white DOC on the eastern edge of the Castelli Romani, between Frascati and Zagarolo, known mostly for one estate, Tenuta Le Quinte, whose Virtù Romane superiore is the only bottle with a reputation. Expect a Roman white with more body than most: ripe pear, yellow apple, honeysuckle, a touch of Malvasia musk and a bitter almond finish, low acid but decent weight. Production is a few thousand cases.
