Nettuno DOC
A coastal DOC created to protect Cacchione, the local name for Bellone, grown on sandy soils near the Anzio beaches. The Cacchione white is the reason to bother: fleshy pear, citrus peel, a saline, sea air note and a bitter twist, with modest acid and good weight. The reds are simple Sangiovese and Merlot blends. Cantina Bacco in Nettuno is the main producer keeping the name alive.
