Pinerolese DOC
An alpine DOC on the Turin side with two wines nobody else makes: Doux d'Henry, a pale, light, gently fruity red from a near-extinct local grape, and Ramìe, a blend of avanà, avarengo and neretto grown on terraces in the Pomaretto valley. The Ramìe is light-bodied and rustic, all cranberry, alpine herbs and rosehip with low tannin and high acid; Doux d'Henry is even paler and softer, closer to a rosé. Production is a few thousand bottles from a handful of growers, most of it sold in Turin restaurants.
