Rossese di Dolceacqua (Dolceacqua) DOC
Liguria's only red of real standing, a pale, fragrant wine that sits somewhere between a Burgundy village wine and a Provençal red. Expect wild strawberry, rosehip, dried thyme, white pepper and a saline lift, with soft tannin and bright acidity. Superiore and single-cru bottlings from old terraced vines gain depth and a stony, slightly bitter finish. Producers like Testalonga, Terre Bianche and Ka Mancinè made it a sommelier favorite in the US.
