Rosso della Val di Cornia (Val di Cornia Rosso) DOCG
The red-only DOCG carved out of the coastal Val di Cornia DOC, on the same warm Maremma coast as Bolgheri but a few miles south. It's a Sangiovese-based blend with Cabernet and Merlot, so expect a Bolgheri-adjacent style: black cherry, plum, Mediterranean scrub, cocoa, medium-full body and ripe, rounded tannin. Very few producers use the DOCG name, since most prefer Suvereto DOCG or Toscana IGT, which makes this one of the hardest Tuscan DOCGs to find anywhere.
