San Martino della Battaglia (Lombardy / Veneto) DOC

A pocket-sized DOC named for the 1859 battle site, growing Friulano (called Tuchì here) on morainic hills otherwise given over to Lugana. The dry white is pale gold, medium bodied, with pear, chamomile, a waxy texture and the grape's bitter almond finish, somewhat softer and rounder than Collio Friulano. The liquoroso is a fortified, lightly sweet curiosity that almost nobody makes anymore. Selva Capuzza, Cadore and a couple of others keep it alive; total production is a few thousand cases.

Still hunting

I'm still looking for a bottle of this.

If you make San Martino della Battaglia (Lombardy / Veneto), import it, or know who does, the form takes two minutes and I reply to every one.

Can you help me get one?
