Santa Margherita di Belice DOC

A 1996 DOC in the Belice valley, the earthquake zone of western Sicily, that exists mainly on paper. Rules call for Catarratto and Ansonica whites with citrus and almond, and Nero d'Avola or Sangiovese reds that are soft and cherry scented. Production under the name is close to nil; the local cooperative bottles a little for the town.
