Sicilia DOC

The island wide DOC created in 2011 that most Sicilian producers now use in place of the small local appellations, which is why so many of the others on this list are ghosts. Quality runs from supermarket Nero d'Avola to serious estate wines. Grillo is the white to know: citrus, white peach, herbs and salt. Nero d'Avola gives black cherry, plum, carob and soft to firm tannin depending on where it's grown; Frappato and Perricone are lighter native reds worth chasing under this label.

Still hunting

I'm still looking for a bottle of this.

If you make Sicilia, import it, or know who does, the form takes two minutes and I reply to every one.

Can you help me get one?
