Suvereto DOCG
A hilltop village behind the coast that got its own DOCG in 2011 for reds built on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with varietal versions allowed. It shares Bolgheri's warm, iron-rich soils and sea breeze, and Tua Rita, Petra and Bulichella are all here even if they mostly bottle as IGT. Expect dense black fruit, cassis, graphite, sweet tobacco, and polished, ripe tannin at 14% or more; the varietal Sangiovese versions are darker and more chocolatey than inland examples.
