Tintilia del Molise DOC
Molise's own grape, rescued from near extinction in the 1990s and given its own DOC in 2011. Tintilia makes a deeply colored, medium to full bodied red with black cherry, plum, black pepper, wild fennel and a distinct earthy, ferrous note, moderate acid and tannins that are ripe but persistent. It is the one wine that tastes of Molise and nowhere else. Di Majo Norante, Claudio Cipressi, Cantine Catabbo and Cantine Salvatore are the names to seek.
