Trento DOC
Italy's mountain sparkling wine and the closest thing to Champagne in style, made from high-altitude Chardonnay and Pinot Nero by the traditional method. Ferrari, founded in 1902, is the house that defines it and is now the sparkling wine of Formula 1. Expect green apple, lemon, white flowers, bread crust and a taut, chalky acidity, leaner than Franciacorta because of the cooler sites. The long-aged riservas (Ferrari Giulio Ferrari, Rotari Flavio, Cesarini Sforza Aquila Reale) develop hazelnut and honey and rival good Champagne.
