Lizzano DOC
No strip issued. I'm still hunting a bottle.
A coastal DOC between Manduria and Taranto where Negroamaro rather than Primitivo is the required grape. The reds are ripe and sunny, dark plum, blackberry, carob and a pleasantly bitter close, softer in tannin than Salice Salentino, and the superiore versions (higher alcohol, some aging) can be quite dense. Tenute Emèra of Claudio Quarta has done the most to put the name on bottles that actually travel.
