Two wines under one name. Roero Arneis is the white most people know: pear, white peach, chamomile and almond, medium acid, soft and quick to drink. Roero rosso is Nebbiolo on sandy soils, which gives a more open, fruit-driven wine than Barolo, red cherry, rose and licorice with lighter tannin, ready in five years and often half the price. Malvirà, Matteo Correggia, Cascina Chicco and Bruno Giacosa's Arneis are the names.
